Racial Profiling Hispanic Women
As citizens of the United States, we should all be familiar with the Declaration of Independence in order to know our rights. In the Declaration of Independence, it states “That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.” Happiness is all one wants. Women and men come from many different countries. Some of the people who left that country had to leave to support their families and not all of them came “the legal way”. When those people step foot on America “home of the brave, home of the free”, they think of the job opportunities they will have. Of course, there are plenty of jobs in the U.S available and these people who migrated to this country see many doors open, but they are only available to work jobs with their certain “skill set”. Most of these jobs that are open are either as maintenance, factory jobs with horrid conditions as well as the agriculture in this country. On top of getting these jobs, they are low paying and there is a lot of racial profiling.
There are laws in Arizona that make it Racial profiling illegal. It targets the women in the hispanic community the most because their physical appearance is different than someone who is white. The rights of a person on “the land of the free are being violated due to their appearance.
Not only do they get jobs that don’t pay well, but now they have deal with being profiled in Arizona legally. It still happens in many different states legally. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights states in article three that “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person”. How can people coming from different countries just to work and live the American dream to be able to feed their families feel safe and work their job when it is legal to profile them and even end them back to their country because they don’t fit certain characteristics?
It is unfair that there is inequality in the U.S since it a country of progression. It is as though gender and race are “negative factors” when working. There should be no line where gender inequality and human inequality should cross because there should be no inequality. It is the twenty-first century, it is time for progression; not regression.
